Character hotel dating from the 15thC so very interesting building
Everything... Start with staff , the welcome, the location, the food. Excellent value for money, rooms very clean and comfortable, super shower plus a secret coutyard to sit and read in . a hint share starters ! THe food was amazing, The chicken rillette, briased steak , in fact all we tasted. HAve breakfast and go for a long walk after!!! Eggs marvellous tried scramled and poached . Came with my pre university daughter for a weekend break and she loved it also . If with teenagers go to Witney to shop!!! Note we do not fit the traveller profile!!
Good location in Burford, Very relaxed atmosphere both in hotel and restaurant, friendly and helpful staff, good mix of new and old furnishings. Love the higgeldy piggeldy building such a nice change from box like rooms. Food good.
The breakfast was excellent and the rooms comfy
There was no parking and the landlady was a little rude on first arrival. However, she seemed to become more friendly from then on, so perhaps just a bad day.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Delicious food served in the atmospheric bar area at the front of the hotel.
The charm of the building, Beer Garden, Location, Breakfast options, Friendly staff.
On the expensive side but accommodation in the area is.
It was built in 1480 - we loved the higgledy-piggledy corridors and interesting small bar areas. Service was excellent - really lovely people.
We had a very pleasant stay at the Highway. The room was clean and comfortable. The Highway is a pub but, we had no trouble sleeping as no noise from the pub or the road outside. The staff couldn't do enough for you and the food was excellent. We would definitely stay here again.
The staff including the owners were very friendly but not intrusive. The food was excellent and the Inn was very quirky. It was in a great location for exploring the Cotswolds, seeing Oxford or just staying around the immediate area.
The bedroom that we stayed in was right at the top of the Inn and was therefore a bit of a trek for my elderly mother and the mattresses were a bit hard but you can't please everybody on that score!
Ideal location for visiting Burford and surrounding area.
Possibly lack of comfortable inside seating if weather inclement.
The Highway Inn in Burford is a very quaint and quirky place to stay. The hotel staff are pleasant and helpful. The food is very good.
The only downside of this hotel for us is how noisy it is from 3.30am onwards. So if you want a good night's sleep this is not the place to stay. The traffic through Burford is relentless and we think that one night is quite enough at The Highway Inn! Unfortunately most of the rooms are at the front of the hotel.
The old building, was historic and quaint.
The floor covering and carpet were dirty. The windows were extremely drafty, the traffic noise was dreadful, there is no escaping the noise starts from 6am until approx 8pm, literally non stop. Three flights of stairs to reach room. DO NOT BOOK A BEDROOM AT THE FRONT OF BUILDING!!
Pleasant staff and wonderful location
Could the menu be differentiated from every pub menu through promotion of local produce and local style of cooking?
Location and staff. Breakfast on Saturday
Breakfast on Sunday when everything was overcooked.
Everything, location, the food, the service, the staff but most of all the very personal way in which everyone made you feel at home. Would highly recommend The Highway Inn to anyone. Most sincerely Pat & Bob Nicholls & friends
